All of the solo piano pieces that appear on this CD were composed and recorded by Jazz pianist Mark Brandt. They are themes developed during the actual recording session and are predominantly improvised works. Impromptu 1 (track 1) and Impromptu 2 (track 5) were completely spontaneous to the moment. With no preconceived notion or theme, the digital recorder was turned on and Mark simply played from start to finish in a manner which he describes as “following the music” rather than actually creating it. These are the earliest recorded improvised works by Mark Brandt, and although the recordings occurred in 1995, they retain their vibrancy as if they were recorded yesterday.
